MAKE PLANS NOW PENSACOLA, FLORIDA, DECEMBER 7, 2016 — The most popular FREE New Year’s Eve celebration on the coast, Pensacola Pelican Drop is happening and packed with live entertainment and fun for the entire family. The event was named as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2014. This year’s event is being produced by a group of Downtown event enthusiasts known as the Pelican Drop Producers in collaboration with Gallery Night Pensacola Inc. The Pelican and MainStage is returning to the original location at Government Street with a full slate of live music including the widely popular: White Tie Rock Ensemble to ring in the New Year. A full list of music and activities can be found on the website www.pensacolapelicandrop.com The Law Offices of JJ Talbott is sponsoring the children’s, Little Pelican Party with loads of family fun including the bubble stop and Pelican lighting at 8 p.m. with activities beginning at 6 p.m. WEAR Channel 3 will once again provide a live broadcast with Sue Straughn officiating countdown duties on the MainStage accompanied by a sky filled with fireworks. Amber Southard and Mollye Barrows Vidgosky will host the main stage. The Pelican Drop allows thousands of people of all ages to experience historic Downtown Pensacola in an intimate setting. Make plans now to have dinner early and enjoy mingling, walking and dancing the beautifully lit Palafox Street. The Pelican Drop was created in 2007 by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) a division of the City Of Pensacola and later produced by the Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) until 2016. A new direction from the DIB Board regarding Downtown events left both Gallery Night and The Pelican Drop in jeopardy. A group of Downtown business people and advocates created Gallery Night Pensacola Inc, a 501C3 organization committed to enlivening and producing events that create economic value for Downtown residents, tourists and businesses. Financial contributions from public and private entities is making this year’s event possible with special thanks to City of Pensacola and Escambia County Commission. ### Ring in the new year in Downtown Pensacola with The Pensacola Pelican Drop™, a free event unique to the Gulf Coast. Festivities kick off at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and continue until 1:00 a.m.

TIPS

Palafox Place will close down for a massive party. Street closures begin on the morning of December 31st and continue until 1 am.

There is plenty of handicap and regular parking in the Jefferson garage as well as the local parking lots downtown.

Folks begin arriving as early as 5pm on December 31 for the family friendly events. Some of the prime viewing spots will be filled by mid-evening.

There are public portable restrooms through out the event location.

The local bars and restaurants will be open to buy food and drinks as well as food vendors on the streets. No coolers please.

Approximately twenty-five thousand people will end up on Palafox Place the night of New Year’s Eve.
